I love food.
I love eating food.
I love making food.
I love shopping for food.
I love smelling food.
I love thinking about food.
I love talking about food.
I love food.
That list in no way sums up the way I feel about food. I'm not really entirely sure that it is possible to sum up the way I feel about food. So, I'm not even going to try. I'm just going to talk about a very small amount of my favorite foods.
Please understand that I don't have a favorite food. Every time I say something is my favorite food, I feel guilty. I think about other foods. It's just not honest for me to say something is my favorite food. So, I have given you my 5 favorite food categories. You might not think that they're categories, but I would bet you that I eat out of these categories more than anything else.
1. Rice
I don't know how people survive without rice. I can't understand it. I live on rice. Rice and soy sauce (La Choy) and I would exist very happily together forever.
In our family, our rice cooker is constantly being used. There is almost always a bowl of leftover rice in our refrigerator, and we are constantly buying bags of rice and soy sauce (La Choy). Us younger kids eat it plain, just the rice and soy sauce (La Choy) for lunch. When we eat our rice and soy sauce (La Choy), we always end up remarking on the perfectness that is rice. And on the perfectness that is soy sauce (La Choy). Did you pick up on my subversive elements in this section? La choy is the best soy sauce around, far, far better than Kikoman.
2. Pizza
I love pizza. It's one of my greatest weaknesses. I'm serious. I'll do almost anything that promises pizza at the end (just not Rico's pizza). I'm the person that youth group activities were created for. I love pizza. I go back and forth on which is my favorite, Pepperoni/Cheese/Supreme. When we make homemade pizza, which is probably the greatest food ever created, we always make 3 pizzas. They just happen to be Pepperoni, Cheese and Supreme. This may play a small part into why I can't choose.
I feel like pizza almost every moment of every day. Ordered pizza, homemade pizza, frozen pizza, Red Baron pizza, pizza rolls, pizza hot pockets, cold pizza, leftover pizza, and the list goes on. Give me pizza, and I'm happy.
3. Meat
I could never be vegetarian. Ever. I love my meat way, way to much.
I love steak, chicken, turkey, pork and some more. I love my meat grilled, baked, broiled, deep-fried, and almost cooked. Out of the list, Steak is probably the best.
I'm not a huge junk-food person. I have my weaknesses, great weaknesses come to think of it. But, overall, real meals is where you'll get me. With real meat. The kind that is still juicy and sitting next to rice, potatoes, or no, that's basically all it needs to sit next to.
4. Potatoes
mashed, baked, broiled, twice-baked, fried, deep-fried, "Joanna and Philip" potatoes are all that it takes. I love, love, love them. Can anything more be said about potatoes?
5. Junk Food
I'm not a huge junk food person, but here are some of my weaknesses. Only a few of them, because if I told you all of them, you would have more power over me than any human should have over another human.
Donuts.
Goldfish - the huge box.
Doritos
Cheese popcorn
Popsicles
Wheat thins - the original
Pizza rolls - Pepperoni
I'm off to eat Pepper Beef. The smells of this marvelous meal may have somewhat inspired this post.
I really do enjoy vegetables, and fruit, but I made myself stick to only five. Just think of everything I cut out. If I sit here too much longer, I'll renege and go back and change the list to 15, or 50.
The Single Greatest Invention Ever is Food.
