Out of Africa

I love this movie.
I may be thinking about this movie a lot because the director recently passed away. Sydney Pollack was a great director, and this is one of his best films. Meryl Streep surpasses all expectations in this incredible movie.

Roger Ebert (I really like him) says, ""Out of Africa" is a great movie to look at, breathtakingly filmed in location. It is a movie with the courage to be about complex, sweeping emotions, and to use the star power of its actors without apology."

If you need any more than that (although my approval, ebert's approval, and my reviewer's (not mentioned here) approval should be enough for anyone) there's the fact that the movie won Best Picture. I have a life long ambition to see all best picture winners. Incidentally, I've seen 47 out of the 80. The movie also picked up oscars for: Director, Adapted screenplay, Cinematography, Original score, Art direction and, Sound.

What are you still doing here? How could you possibly need another reason? Go watch the movie.

Question: what do the last 3 movies I've recommended have in common? And don't look back. The movies were: Quiz Show, All the President's Men, and now Out of Africa.

  1. Robert Redford. I hate paying attention to actors, but I still managed to know this. What's my prize?
