I am tired, and I smell like Lysol (I was cleaning the bathroom), so don't expect too much. I did want to share my exciting day with you. I was going to write it in story form, but my bed is too comfortable. I had a great time, and loved every minute.
Things you should know about my Sunday (presented in helpful list form--like the bulletin which I loved):
1. I love experiences. That might be why I enjoyed myself so much.
2. I love my oldest sister. I do. I do not, however, love her car ride music.
3. I went to a church with a band on stage. I went to a church with a band on stage. (Don't worry. My Dad knew I was going. Wait, does that make it worse?)
4. I sang along with the band on stage.
5. The band on stage wasn't very good. They used (and this is being generous) 4 chords. Their transitions actually weren't transitions either. I found that amusing.
6. Welcome packets are awesome.
7. The preaching was good.
8. But I wished I had heard their real pastor.
9. Seeing old friends is delightful.
10. Seeing old friends that have made a great choice in their spouse is delightful. She was really nice, and perfect for who he is. It's always nice to see things that work. They'll do well together.
11. The little baby liked me (I think). Children don't usually like me, and I helpfully return the favor.
12. The key to a satisfying argument is finding out more about your opponent than they find out about you. I didn't actually care about what we were arguing (If you know me, then you know there are a few subjects I never argue wholeheartedly. Music is one of them) But I argued just enough to hear their responses. People say things in arguments they would never say any other time. Their responses were fascinating. I'm armed with more knowledge about this subject (I'll let you guess whether it hurts or helps their arguments). I have quotes--and they're awesome. I'm ready for another music post. It's about manipulation.
13. The food was great. That means I have multitudes of love for them.
14. I walked around the campus. It was not what I expected, but it strangely worked.
15. Sherlock Holmes rocks. I'm crossing my fingers about Downey/Law/Ritchie. So far, it's not promising.
16. I had never read the old friend's blog, and he teased me about it. I wanted to reference Barney and his blog in response (it would have been perfect), but the group was lacking in pop culture knowledge. I told it to RuthAnn as soon as I reached home, and she appreciated it.
17. They're ready for beginner foreign films (they use subtitles in English movies--it's the first step). I tried to rack my brain for which foreign film you should start with. I still don't know.
18. I came away with a new book. The day was a success.
19. I now own my first John Piper book. I decided to give him a second chance, but I'm counting prepositions and unnecessary that's.
20. I've been thinking since I left. I like that. I'm not thinking the way either side wants me to think (I am leaning towards one though). I'm not even thinking about the issues either side wants me to think about. I'm just thinking. It's nice.
21. Silence is the greatest gift of all. I drove the car by myself for an hour and half. It was so nice. It was quiet. I thought. I was at peace.
I did not listen to my oldest sister's music.
